We are pleased to partner with 32° East on Ecotonal Readings Convening: Library, Landscape, and Sustainable Futures, a presentation and workshop led by Dr. Anna Adima and artist and printmaker Kajebe Jacob Joshua, taking place on Tuesday 4 August 2026. The event forms part of the  AAL Lab convening series Contemporary Art and Archive Practices (CAAP), jointly organised by Guest Artists Space (G.A.S.) Foundation and Yinka Shonibare Foundation (Y.S.F.) within the framework of the Re:assemblages programme.

This month, we are highlighting recent achievements from members of the G.A.S. alumni community. Since 2022, our residents and fellows have continued to develop ambitious practices across disciplines and geographies. July has seen alumni recognised through prestigious awards, international exhibitions, film festivals, and major professional opportunities, underscoring the lasting impact of the relationships and research fostered during their time at G.A.S.

Join us at G.A.S. Lagos on 23rd July 2026 for Exodus, a presentation of new works by current resident Adeyinka Akingbade, developed during his four-week residency. Expanding his ongoing project Exodus, Adeyinka transforms discarded books and found materials into sculptural works that reflect on displacement, survival, memory, and the communities forced to flee violence. Through repurposed books, metal, wood, and school uniform fabric, the works bear witness to lives interrupted while exploring the power of materials to hold memory.

On 17th July 2026, G.A.S. Lagos hosted a Library Open Day and Book Reading, inviting visitors to explore the resources of the G.A.S. Library and Picton Archive. The library was established in 2022 after John Picton, Emeritus Professor of African Art (University of London), and Sue Picton generously gifted their personal library to G.A.S. Since then, the collection has grown into a specialist resource dedicated to the visual arts of Sub-Saharan Africa and its diaspora.

Thank you for your interest in the Lagos Art Tour 2026. We are delighted to open bookings for the invitation-only Lagos Art Tour 2026, a curated donor journey with Guest Artists Space (G.A.S.) Foundation and Yinka Shonibare Foundation (Y.S.F.), taking place during Lagos Art Week and ART X Lagos. 

In February 2026, G.A.S. Foundation was formally announced as a participant in the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia by Koyo Kouoh. During the opening week of 5–9 May, the Foundation presented Chorus, a major installation developed through its residency programme spanning its purpose-built creative campus in Lagos and its sustainability-focused farm with an onsite studio in Ikise. Alongside this presentation, alumni, trustees, and collaborators participated in a range of independently programmed events across Venice, reflecting the expanding reach of the Foundation’s network.

Adeyinka Akingbade, a Lagos-based painter, photographer, and graphic designer, joins us for a four-week residency at G.A.S. Lagos. His multidisciplinary practice spans painting, photography, mixed media, installation and research, and is concerned with the repurposing of materials that are often discarded or lost to reflect on migration and memory.

Join us at G.A.S. Lagos on 3rd July 2026 for Assorted Stories of Capsicum, an evening featuring a presentation on the history of capsicum, the genus of plants that includes peppers and chillies, alongside soda and zine workshops led by current resident Kim M. Reynolds.

Guest Artists Space (G.A.S.) Foundation and Yinka Shonibare Foundation (Y.S.F.) are pleased to announce a new residency collaboration with nonprofit art collective Floating Museum through The Burroughs Residency in Chicago, United States. This initiative expands both organisations' commitment to supporting alumni and nurturing transnational exchange between artists, cultural practitioners, and communities across Nigeria and the United States.

Join us at G.A.S. Lagos on 25th June 2026 for Field Notes 001, a presentation and exhibition of ongoing research by current resident Akir Hall, exploring biomaterials rooted in Nigerian ecology. During his eight-week residency, Akir developed a biomaterials library using agricultural by-products from the farm and surrounding area, investigating how overlooked natural resources can be transformed into innovative materials for design and production.

The Centre for Contemporary Art, CCA, Lagos, is an independent non-profit making visual art organisation founded in December 2007 by Bisi Silva (1962 – 2019).
The centre provides a platform for the development, presentation, and discussion of contemporary visual art and culture. It seeks to create new audiences and to prioritise media such as photography, film and video, performance and installation art, which have been under-represented in Nigeria.
