Support Our Work

Guest Artists Space (G.A.S.) Foundation is a residency and cultural exchange organisation founded and initially funded by Yinka Shonibare CBE, with sites in Lagos and Ikise, Ogun State. Its continuing work is now delivered thanks to the generous support of individuals, trusts and foundations and corporate partners.

Our donors become part of a dynamic international community of supporters, stretching from Lagos to London, Nigeria to New York and beyond. They benefit from regular updates and opportunities to engage with one another, as well as our team and our residents, at various points throughout the year.

Funds can be given through G.A.S. Foundation, a Nigerian registered non-profit; Yinka Shonibare Foundation, a UK registered charity no. 1183321, which fundraises, develops partnerships and supports G.A.S.’s mission; or our US tax-effective giving programme.

Donations of any size are hugely appreciated, and we would be delighted to speak to you about bespoke ways of support.

We also welcome annual support at the following levels:

RESIDENCY COUNCIL

£20,000 / $30,000+ | Per Annum

Members of our Residency Council are mission critical, ensuring that creatives and scholars from around Nigeria and across the globe can undertake research residencies at G.A.S. Your core support gives us the security to continue developing and recruiting participants for our residency programme.

Residency Council members are invited to participate in dedicated meetings with the G.A.S. team to hear developments about our residencies and also contribute their ideas, and receive quarterly updates about our residencies. We also invite personal visits to G.A.S. at members’ convenience. They are also welcome to participate in all of the activities open to those in our Gold Circle.

Residency Council members can name and support specific residencies of six weeks or more from £25,000 / $35,000 per year.

GOLDEN CIRCLE

£10,000 / $15,000 + | Per Annum

Our Golden Circle supporters provide critical unrestricted funds that enable us to open our doors to residents and public audiences alike. Through their philanthropic support, G.A.S. can continue providing the space and resources to build essential cultural infrastructure within Nigeria and in dialogue with the world.

Those in our Golden Circle receive opportunities to engage with our team, our residents and our founder Yinka Shonibare at various occasions and locations, including during Lagos Art Week each November, as well as receiving privileged access to additional trips and programmes.

SILVER CIRCLE

£5,000 / $7,500+ | Per Annum

Silver Circle supporters help underpin all aspects of our work at G.A.S., both in urban Lagos and rural Ikise. Our Silver Circle is welcomed to a range of international programmes and events and receives regular updates on the work that their vital support catalyses. They are also given advance notification about artworks by Yinka Shonibare and others sold to benefit G.A.S.

G.A.S. FRIENDS

£1,000 / $1,500+ | Per Annum

G.A.S. Friends provide regular annual support, and in turn receive special updates about and invitations to G.A.S. projects and supporter events as valued members of our global community
