Open Call: 2023 Tilga Art Fund Uganda Edition

ABOUT THE GANT

Tilga Art Fund is now accepting applications from artists between the ages of 18 and 30 working and living in Uganda, or of Ugandan descent. Applicants are invited to submit proposals as individuals or as a group across a variety of creative disciplines that include photography, painting, sculpture, illustration or multidisciplinary arts. The grant is intended to support early career artists in developing their practice through any project of their choosing.

 

THE AWARD

  • Four artists will be selected as finalists
  • Each finalist will receive a $2,000 grant
  • The top-ranked artist will receive an expenses-paid residency at the G.A.S. Farm House or G.A.S. Lagos in Nigeria courtesy of Guest Artists Space Foundation and Yinka Shonibare Foundation
  • The residency would be available either in August/September 2023 or January/February 2024

Additional benefits would include:

  • Mentorship by established artists
  • A potential local exhibition with Reach a Hand Uganda and Global Living Institute
  • Potential global exposure through the use of created artwork in support of Reach a Hand Uganda's campaign 'Undo the Taboo'
  • Potential global publicity by all supporting partners

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • A portfolio of 6-8 recent artworks 
  • A conceptual proposal to create artwork addressing Reach a Hand Uganda's 'Undo the Taboo' campaign
  • A CV or resume
